2027 is one of the most restricted years for Hindu weddings in recent memory. Where a typical year offers 40โ60 auspicious muhurat dates, 2027 has only 15 verified vivah muhurat dates across the entire year. An unusually long Shukra Asta (Venus combust, July 7 โ September 17) overlaps almost exactly with Chaturmas (July 14 โ November 10), sealing off four consecutive months with zero valid dates.
If your family is planning a wedding in 2027, this list is what your pandit is working from โ and the best March dates are already being booked.
These dates are calculated from the ShubhDivas panchanga engine using VSOP87 astronomical data with Lahiri ayanamsa. All times are IST, calculated for Bangalore; adjust ยฑ15โ30 minutes for other cities.
Why 2027 Has So Few Dates
Three blackout periods hit simultaneously:
Chaturmas โ July 14 to November 10, 2027 Devshayani Ekadashi falls on July 14 and Devutthana Ekadashi on November 10. Weddings are prohibited across most Hindu traditions during this period. See the full explanation in our Chaturmas 2026 guide โ the same rules apply in 2027.
Shukra Asta โ July 7 to September 17, 2027 Venus is the marriage karaka in Vedic astrology. When Venus comes within 10ยฐ of the Sun, it enters combustion and loses its auspicious power. This combustion begins July 7 โ a week before Chaturmas opens โ and ends September 17, deep inside Chaturmas. The result: the pre-Chaturmas window closes even earlier than the Devshayani date itself.
Guru Asta โ August 17 to September 14, 2027 Jupiter is also combust during this window. It falls entirely inside Chaturmas, so it does not create any additional exclusions, but it means this period is doubly inauspicious.
Pitru Paksha โ September 15 to September 30, 2027 The 16-day Shradh paksha also falls entirely inside Chaturmas. No separate impact.
Adhik Maas โ None in 2027 2027 does not have a leap lunar month. This is a relief โ an Adhik Maas would have added another 30-day blackout. The next Adhik Maas is in 2029.

โ March 15 is the single best vivah muhurat of 2027 โ see details below.
โ ๏ธ June 21: Venus is 14.2ยฐ from the Sun on this date, technically above the 10ยฐ combustion threshold but narrowing. It is valid; families wanting maximum margin should prefer an earlier date.
Month-by-Month Guide
January 2027 โ 2 Dates
Two solid dates open the year. January 20 (Wednesday) is the stronger choice โ Shukla Trayodashi with Mrigashira nakshatra and Indra yoga. Jupiter is 154.9ยฐ from the Sun, near its opposition peak, which gives maximum benefic strength to any ceremony on this date. Venus is 46.1ยฐ from the Sun, completely clear of combustion. Both January dates are free from all blackout restrictions.
February 2027 โ 1 Date
Only one date: February 11 (Thursday). Shukla Panchami with Revati nakshatra and Sadhya yoga (the yoga of accomplishment). Jupiter reaches near-exact opposition on this date at 180ยฐ from the Sun โ the single most powerful Jupiter position of the year. Thursday is Guruvara, Jupiter's own day, which doubles this planetary blessing. Families devoted to Vishnu consider Revati with Sadhya yoga particularly auspicious.
March 2027 โ 4 Dates
March is the richest month of 2027. Four dates in quick succession offer real flexibility for venue and family scheduling.
March 4 (Thursday) โ Krishna Ekadashi with Uttara Ashadha nakshatra. Ekadashi is sacred to Vishnu, and Uttara Ashadha (the later Ashadha) is one of the most consistent nakshatras for a stable, long-lasting marriage. Variyan yoga supports material prosperity.
March 10 (Wednesday) โ Shukla Dwitiya with Uttara Bhadrapada. The second tithi of the bright fortnight is traditionally called Mangala tithi in some texts โ auspicious for beginnings. Uttara Bhadrapada is ruled by Ahir Budhanya and associated with marital depth and steadiness.
March 11 (Thursday) โ Shukla Tritiya with Revati and Brahma yoga. Tritiya is the same tithi as Akshaya Tritiya, widely considered self-auspicious. Brahma yoga is associated with creative abundance.
March 15 (Monday) โ The best date of 2027. Detailed below.
North Indian Kharmas note: The Sun enters sidereal Pisces (Meena) around March 14โ15, beginning the Kharmas period observed in many North Indian traditions until mid-April. Families observing Kharmas should choose March 4, 10, or 11. South Indian families face no such restriction and may use all four March dates.
April 2027 โ 2 Dates
April 1 (Thursday) โ Krishna Dashami with Uttara Ashadha and Shiva yoga. The Dashami tithi is associated with the tenth house and career foundations, which some texts link to the long-term establishment of the family. Note: April 1 still falls within the Kharmas period for North Indian families (Kharmas ends at Mesha Sankranti around April 13โ14). South Indian families have no restriction.
April 28 (Wednesday) โ Krishna Saptami with Uttara Ashadha and Sadhya yoga. April 28 is completely clear โ Kharmas has ended, all planets are well-placed, and the nakshatra-tithi combination is clean. Venus is 31.5ยฐ from the Sun, well clear of combustion.
May 2027 โ 1 Date
May 31 (Monday) โ Krishna Dashami with Uttara Bhadrapada and Ayushman yoga (associated with long life and health). Monday's Rahu Kaal runs approximately 07:30โ09:00 IST in Bangalore, so the muhurat window opens at 10:00 IST. Venus at 19.7ยฐ from the Sun is valid but worth monitoring โ combustion begins July 7, so by the end of May the window is narrowing.
June 2027 โ 1 Date
June 21 (Monday) โ Krishna Dwitiya with Uttara Ashadha and Brahma yoga. This is the last valid date before the July 7 Shukra Asta begins. Venus is 14.2ยฐ from the Sun โ above the threshold but declining. If you are booking June 21, confirm the specific lagna time with your pandit to ensure Venus remains above 10ยฐ elongation at the moment of the ceremony. The tithi and nakshatra are fully auspicious; the Venus margin is the only variable.
July โ October 2027 โ No Dates
Four months sealed by Chaturmas plus Shukra Asta. No exceptions in classical rules. Families with relatives asking about July or August weddings should be directed firmly toward March or November.
November 2027 โ 3 Dates
Devutthana Ekadashi is November 10. The season reopens on November 11, and the first muhurat falls on November 12 (Friday) โ Shukla Trayodashi with Revati nakshatra and Siddhi yoga. Friday is Shukravara (Venus's day), and Siddhi yoga is associated with success and fulfillment. A strong first date of the post-Chaturmas season.
November 24 (Wednesday) brings Hasta nakshatra with Priti yoga โ an excellent pairing. Hasta is ruled by Savitar (the Sun deity of skill), and Priti yoga carries the same energy of love and affection as on March 15.
November 26 (Friday) โ Krishna Trayodashi with Swati nakshatra and Saubhagya yoga (literally "good fortune"). Friday plus Saubhagya is considered particularly auspicious for the bride.
Note: November 24 and 26 fall in Krishna paksha. South Indian and many progressive families accept these dates readily; some stricter North Indian traditions prefer Shukla paksha for vivah. Verify with your family custom.
December 2027 โ 1 Date
December 8 (Wednesday) โ Shukla Dashami with Uttara Bhadrapada and Siddhi yoga. December 8 falls before Dhanu Kharmas begins (Sun enters sidereal Sagittarius around December 15โ16), so it is valid across all traditions. A clean, restriction-free closing date for the year.
The #1 Date of 2027: March 15
Shukla Saptami ยท Rohini Nakshatra ยท Yoga: Priti ยท Monday
By every classical measure, March 15, 2027 is the standout date of the year.
Rohini nakshatra is the Moon's own nakshatra โ the most celebrated of all for vivah muhurat. Every major classical text on muhurta, from Muhurta Martanda to Muhurta Chintamani, places Rohini first. It is associated with fertility, abundance, unwavering commitment, and the creative force of Brahma (Prajapati). Brides born in or married under Rohini are said to be like Rohini herself โ beloved, steadfast, and deeply fortunate.
Shukla Saptami โ the seventh tithi of the bright fortnight โ is called Jayanti Tithi in classical texts: the tithi of victory and auspicious beginnings. It is among the most preferred tithis for vivah in both North and South Indian traditions.
Priti yoga carries the energy of love and deep affection between partners โ the precise quality that sustains a marriage.
Monday is Somavara, the Moon's own day. Combined with Rohini (the Moon's nakshatra), this creates a double lunar blessing: the lord of the day and the lord of the nakshatra are identical.
Jupiter at 144.1ยฐ from Sun is in its post-opposition bala phase โ past the peak but still at commanding strength.
Venus at 37.8ยฐ from Sun is well clear of combustion.
Muhurat timing: Rohini nakshatra ends at 09:26 AM IST on March 15. Monday Rahu Kaal runs approximately 07:30โ09:00 AM. This means the pure Rohini window is 09:00โ09:26 IST โ only 26 minutes. After 09:26, the nakshatra transitions to Mrigashira, which is also excellent for vivah and extends the window to 12:00 noon. Families who want the Rohini window itself should begin the main ceremony โ the exchange of garlands or Saptapadi โ between 09:00 and 09:26. Families comfortable with Mrigashira can use 09:26 โ 12:00 IST for a more relaxed schedule.
Kharmas caveat for North Indian families: The Sun enters sidereal Meena around March 14โ15, which is when Kharmas begins in North Indian tradition. Families observing Kharmas strictly should choose March 10 or March 11 instead. South Indian families may use March 15 without restriction.
Choosing Among the 15 Dates
If you want maximum planetary strength: February 11 (Jupiter at exact opposition) or January 20 (Jupiter at 154.9ยฐ, near opposition peak).
If you want the most celebrated nakshatra: March 15 (Rohini), January 20 (Mrigashira), or March 4 / April 1 / April 28 / June 21 (Uttara Ashadha).
If you are North Indian and observing Kharmas: March 4, March 10, March 11, January 15, January 20, February 11 are all outside Kharmas. Avoid March 15 and April 1.
If you need a November or December date: November 24 (Hasta + Priti yoga) or November 12 (Revati + Siddhi yoga) are the strongest post-Chaturmas options. December 8 is valid and typically less booked.
For South Indian families using Dashaporutham: Cross-check each date's nakshatra against the bride's and groom's Janma Nakshatra for Rajju, Vedha, and Yoni porutham before finalising.
